About the Society

Established in 1996, the Schleiermacher Society is devoted to scholarly engagement with the work of Friedrich Daniel Ernst Schleiermacher, whose theoretical reflections on religion, culture, and modernity, and practical proposals for reform, have decisively shaped modern liberal Protestantism.
